Homemade Pita Bread

If you are looking for a savory snack to satisfy your cravings, look no further than this recipe! I hope you enjoy this recipe nearly as much as I did making it.

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ cup of all-purpose flour

  • ½ cup of whole wheat flour

  • Two teaspoons of yeast

  • ½ teaspoon of vegan granulated sugar

  • One tablespoon of olive oil

  • water (on-site for mixing)

Preparation Time:

This recipe should take 20 minutes to prepare and 1 hour to cook.

Servings and Calories:

This recipe prepares eight servings of Homemade Pita Bread. One serving of Homemade Pita Bread contains 126.75 estimated calories.

Directions:

Step 1. Combine all ingredients (with the exception of water).

Step 2. Slowly mix your ingredients while adding your water (in reasonable amounts) to create a soft, somewhat sticky dough.

Step 3. Cover for one hour with a kitchen towel. Your dough should rise and become lighter.

Step 4. Knead the dough and divide the dough into eight equal portions.

Step 5. Round the dough (individually) into balls. Allow them to take form (usually about 5 minutes).

Step 5. Roll out the dough balls into circles. Ensure that your circles are neither too thick nor thin.

Step 6. On an open skillet, with a touch of oil (varies by preference), allow for the circles to sit on medium heat for two minutes. Then, flip to the other side (repeat for each).

Step 7. Make sure that your pita portions are somewhat fluffed. Then, enjoy and cool!

Thank you for trying my recipe and sticking with me! I hope to see you soon.

Until tomorrow,

Jessica
