Hi, it's Jessica! 👋
Bonjour! My name is Jessica (she/her), and I am a UCLA psychology honors freshman. For ethical reasons, I've been vegan for two years. I am passionate about social issues advocacy, writing, and exercise. In high school, I was heavily involved in animal advocacy and worked with the Students Opposing Speciesism. I am the Public Education Director for the Bruins Opposing Speciesism (BOS) at UCLA. I will be the longest-serving member in UCLA's history! Feel free to PM me with any questions about BOS! If you're curious, sweet-and-sour popcorn or açaí bowls are my favorite comfort foods. PM me for LA, NJ, or NYC vegan recommendations; I've got you!
Jessica's Story & Purpose
Have you ever tried to "crash diet" and failed? That's how I felt when I first tried to go vegan after years of vegetarianism. How was I supposed to eat? Was I at risk for scurvy? Nothing like that happened 😂, but I'll try to assuage your fears (and demonstrate the abundance that can come from a vegan diet). My goal is to help you better understand veganism by showing you a realistic WIEAD (what I eat daily) as a growing teen and foods rich in the five essential macronutrients. Instead of advocating a diet based on calorie counting and macro tracking, I encourage healthy eating habits. I encourage younger and older people to eat more vegetables and offer advice on making plant-based meals. My goal in creating this blog is not to convert anyone to veganism but rather to describe the aspects of veganism I enjoy the most. I have adored writing and developing my blog over the last two years. I wouldn't be here without you—thank you!
